Principles 05:57
Principles Words & Music by Barry Keys I look to the East to see the sun is rising I look my journey to find a separate peace The thread of a life is pulling us forward And in a fair giving, I feel a kind release Your thoughts have a taking your judgement no sorrow Your dreams have a making of what you are here And now there’s a question of moments tomorrow Time is a limit but all your answers are near You learn to cry from the river You learn to laugh from the children You find yourself in the love that you give And ooo, you give it away A parable tells of a man with no seeing And a sage who helped him to find his own way Out of our infinite riches in each other Maybe there is for all men a better day You learn to cry from the river You learn to laugh from the children You find yourself in the love that you give And ooo, you give it away © XENON music 2001

Loving Kind 03:36
Loving Kind words & music by Barry Keys You think this loving thing is real You say it’s all for how you feel You think that I’m the loving kind You must be dumb and blind You say you like to see me smile “Oh, please don’t go just stay a while” You think you’d like to fall in love What could could you be thinking of? I see the children how they cry Destiny of man to live and die And I’m a weakling I don’t try You go on and on and love just becomes good-bye And here we stand the sun will rise We look so deep each other’s eyes Infinite the shape of time How long is time? How far is forever? How I am caught up in this rhyme You think this loving thing is real You say it’s how it’s how you really feel You know that I believe it’s true It’s all for you You know that I’m the loving kind © Barry Keys 1980

Blue Moon Rising words and music by Barry Keys I love like anyone I’m a stranger sitting quiet in the morning sun And my tears may be washed by the rain And joy only known by the pain You come and you take me there Where the room is dark and almost always bare We live to love for the day With all things felt and nothing left to say When love is there pride is washed away Like a blue moon rising On a dream that is yet to come Happy surprise When you know that you love someone I see in the deep blue sea That a part of you is the all of me Though we’ve come to be where we are The time I love you though we’re drawn by a star And the love we’ve felt has come to leave this scar In a blue moon rising On a dream that is yet to come How it feels so surprising When you know That you’ve lost someone I see in the deep blue sea That a part of you is the all of me © Barry Keys 1978

Found In An Open Field words and music by Barry Keys I’m in this open field trying to find my God The cops are coming soon and I am feeling so odd Heaven’s just above me and the skyline is blue Here looking for something that I can always hold true O Lord please let me go There’s still so much I have still to know And if you let me stay, I promise I will be okay The Angels are now here they are dressed in dark blue Peotry and destiny I think I’m coming to you They fly me across the city and they put me in a cage Lord I feel no temptation Lord, I have no rage O Lord please let me go There’s so much more I have still to know And if you let me stay, I promise I will be okay © Barry Keys 1979

No Other Road words and music by Barry Keys Losing a love has brought me here Losing a friend has brought a tear And I know that love lives on in a boy somewhere Or a girl who’s just learning to care Searching inside I see The ones who have brought me here And I will be as true in my love for them as I am in my dream for you Give me a song to bring as I live my life alone And I will give you strength For your love In a dream you call your own Oh there can be no other road Oh there can be no other hold on me I know we will go so far And there is so much we will see Finding your love had brought me here Finding a friend has brought a tear And I know that love lives on In a girl somewhere or a Boy who’s just learning to care There can be no other road There can be no other hold on me I know we will go so far And there is so much we will see Oh yes you are my only hold How could there be any other road for me? © Barry Keys 1978

about

The start of a new trend for singer/songwriters. It was a time when many artists were getting lost, kind of overlooked, not tended to, on the big labels. I passed on a chance to sign with a major label. Was this in order to avoid getting lost at a big label or just so we could be defiant and reckless? We were young. We pressed our own record and took it on the road. Lots of rookie mistakes were made. But we also relied on the guidance and experience of our mentors. We were careful in creating the product. Recorded at Dirk Dalton Recorders, mixed at Hit City West and Mastered at KDisc. As far as the tour went, we were "babes in the woods". There was no GPS, we had to use foldout maps from the auto club. "No visible means of support" means that it's good to know something about auto maintenance. Traveling mostly in California, showing up at places we never heard of, we did become famous with locals. Definitely not "Glamour Rock", they loved us and we loved them. This album appealed to our audience because we played from an original place. We didn't know what we were doing and we were just there creating in the moment. Using straight rock song feel and adding jazzy affectations. That was just the way that it was coming out. I don't think that we were trying to declare anything but only to emit what was going on through our music while relying on our influences. This tour created a new model for supporting our craft because we learned about our own power to connect with the listener. Although it was a clumsy and less efficient way than today's video downloads, it was friendly and authentic. We were hoping to play well enough at the show, so that people would buy the record there because we didn't know how to get them into the stores yet. All in all, it was an accidental success. Thank you to Giuseppe and friends for your enthusiasm in bringing this album back to everyone's awareness. Ogni giorno è un dono.
