Jaques et Sophia is a different version of a love tragedy. In the South of France in the 15th Century, two rival families. A boy named Jaques, from one family and a girl named Sophia, from the other, fell in love. This time it is Jaques who is killed by Sophia’s arranged betrothed and Sophia kills herself by jumping from a cliff into the ocean. The twist to this story is that, later, Sophia’s younger brother and Jaques younger sister fall in love and the families learn to tolerate each other lest anymore life or love be lost. So, it is a very human, sad/happy ending.
